ROOTS OF CARE

A Beginner’s Guide for In-Home Clinicians:

Providing Culturally-Attuned Care to Families in Need

Welcome!

In-home care offers unique opportunities to serve and connect with families in the spaces where they feel most comfortable. This platform is designed to support new clinicians like you in feeling equipped and confident to deliver culturally attuned care to the families you serve.

At the heart of this approach is the belief that families are the experts in their own lives. As clinicians, our role is to listen, learn, and co-create solutions that honor their identities, values, and lived experiences.

Roots symbolize stability, growth, and connection—the foundation for resilient families. This guide supports new in-home clinicians in delivering meaningful, culturally attuned care where it’s needed most—in the heart of the home.

Pathway to In-Home Care

At the core of this guide sits the principle that this work is deeply personal. The Pathway to In-Home Care model I’ve developed is rooted in cultural attunement, an ongoing commitment to honoring the lived experiences, identities, and values of the families we serve. Cultural attunement invites us to reflect on our own lens as practitioners while building trust through humility, responsiveness, and presence.

This model outlines three key stages of providing thoughtful, sustainable, and culturally attuned in-home support. Click each stage to learn more.
